Director Robert Quebral said his wife gave him a copy of the sex video after it was given to her by an officemate. He began writing the plot for this movie that very night he saw the video. He initially stopped pursuing the story as he felt guilty of exploiting the people in the sex video to further his career. He later changed his mind when he began hearing rumors that the girl in the video had killed herself over the unwanted attention. He said pursued the story to show that there is life after such Internet infamy.
